2023 Inner Harbor Boat Tour

By Events

Community Leaders from across the Coastal Bend sailed away with CBIA!

The Coastal Bend Industry Association hosted local partners, elected officials, and business leaders for a multi hour boat tour of the Port Corpus Christi Inner Harbor on May 24, 2023.  During the tour, guests were greeted by numerous CBIA member representatives, received Corpus Christi Bay Fun Facts and Historical Commentary from our Executive Director Bob Paulison, and learned about member facilities along the inner harbor from CBIA Member management representatives.

CBIA hosts our educational boat tours to offer firsthand looks at the plants and processes of our members for newly elected, appointed, hired and introduced community leaders to further communication and partnerships.

CBIA at 24th Annual Earth Day – Bay Day

By Events

There’s no better way to combine Coastal Bend Industry Association Member employees’ favorite things (Family, Fun, our local Environment, and Volunteering) than to do so at the annual Earth Day – Bay Day celebration each year!

On April 22, 2023, CBIA members teamed up again at the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation 24th annual Earth Day – Bay Day (EDBD) to share our love for the Coastal Bend with neighbors.  Our local volunteers helped community members of all ages plant beautiful brightly colored flowers in environmentally friendly CBIA gift planters and handed out fresh recyclable totes to help collect all the goodies offered to attendees at the festival – and for reuse again and again later while combing beaches or local shops for treasures.

EDBD, held annually at Corpus Christi’s Heritage Park, is a free admission family-oriented celebration intended “to bring education, conservation, participation, habitat protection, and career choices in the community together in a fun atmosphere to help educate and promote environmental awareness” to our community.  This goal aligns perfectly with CBIA’s mission and the mission of our industry partners!  We look forward to spending time with the 800+ festival attendees again in 2024.

Coastal Bend Industry Association Brand Rollout Reception

By News

The Coastal Bend Industry Association (CBIA), formerly known as Port Industries of Corpus Christi, announced their new brand at a reception held in July. This organization has continued to bring together refiners, chemical and bulk material manufacturers, rig fabricators, energy providers, and supporting distribution and terminal facilities located in Nueces, San Patricio, and Kleberg counties for over 70 years to propel our community forward and help build partnerships that improve the regional quality of life.

CBIA worked with MDR Advertising, a local award-winning advertising agency, to create a new brand to better reflect the companies it represents. The redesigned logo incorporates elements of the natural ecosystem–such as sun, water, and wind–representing key focal points of the association: economic vitality, environmental stewardship, water and air quality, emergency management and safety. CBIA member companies continue the tradition as the environmentally responsible economic engine for this region. Focus areas CBIA members collectively address include but are not limited to: air quality, uninterruptible water supply, workforce development, and quality of life for all in the Coastal Bend area.

Port Industries Announces New Name and Brand

By Press Releases

CBIA new logo

(CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas) — The Port Industries of Corpus Christi (PICC) is excited to announce it will be changing its name to Coastal Bend Industry Association (CBIA) and implementing a full rebranding effort that more clearly conveys the purpose, values and goals of the organization.

The now 20-member association of port-related industries has served the Texas Coastal Bend region for nearly 70 years—identifying and leveraging opportunities that contribute to industrial growth, economic stability and improved quality of life.

“Member companies are important partners in many communities throughout the region,” said Bob Paulison, Executive Director of the Coastal Bend Industry Association. “Our challenge has been to make sure our brand reflects that. The new name and modernized look are central to meeting that goal.”

Working with Corpus Christi-based advertising agency MDR, PICC member companies were able to communicate the vision and values of their work in addition to performance goals on the horizon. The MDR team took it from there, collaborating with the PICC team along the way.

“The new name was inspired by the heart of what PICC does: joining forces to provide a thriving workforce and safe environment for the communities where we live and work,” said Stephen Rybak, Principal and Chief Creative Officer of MDR. “For the name, we knew the region had to be front and center, and for the logo—we needed to represent the commitment and care the association’s team members and partners bring to the table every day.”

In addition to the new name, the updated logo combines elements of the natural ecosystem—like sun, water and wind—representing key focal points of the association: economic vitality, environmental stewardship, water quality, air quality and emergency management and safety.

Community members can expect the same high level of dedication to the region that they’ve known for decades.

“Our commitment to being a key player in the success of the Coastal Bend will never waiver,” Paulison said. “With a new name and a new look, we’re hoping we’ll be able to build even stronger connections and opportunities moving forward.”

You can expect to see updates as soon as April 9th, with brand rollout activities continuing throughout the summer.

Volunteers also cleared an old dock, rerouted irrigation lines from rain water harvest systems to trees, installed solar powered irrigation pumps, constructed berms to slope slow water runoff, installed a new stump jump for the preschool visitors, and scattered seeds to establish new grass!
