By Press Releases

Exciting in-person activities have given 2022 quite a reputation! Your Coastal Bend Industry Association (CBIA) proudly celebrated the return of Earth Day Bay Day on Saturday, April 9th at Corpus Christi’s Heritage Park.

Volunteers from our membership were up and at ‘em early to beat the birds to the worms, tilling soil for children of all ages (yup, you guessed it, adults were welcome too!) to plant their very own brightly colored flowers in miniature CBIA terracotta pots.

According to the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation who put on the event, the 23rd Annual Earth Day Bay Day welcomed nearly 8,000 visitors and hosted 60+ exhibitors with interactive activities, wildlife presentations and tasty foods!

We hope you enjoyed making memories with us and we look forward to seeing you in the public again soon!

Port Industries Announces New Name and Brand

(CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas) — The Port Industries of Corpus Christi (PICC) is excited to announce it will be changing its name to Coastal Bend Industry Association (CBIA) and implementing a full rebranding effort that more clearly conveys the purpose, values and goals of the organization.

The now 20-member association of port-related industries has served the Texas Coastal Bend region for nearly 70 years—identifying and leveraging opportunities that contribute to industrial growth, economic stability and improved quality of life.

“Member companies are important partners in many communities throughout the region,” said Bob Paulison, Executive Director of the Coastal Bend Industry Association. “Our challenge has been to make sure our brand reflects that. The new name and modernized look are central to meeting that goal.”

Working with Corpus Christi-based advertising agency MDR, PICC member companies were able to communicate the vision and values of their work in addition to performance goals on the horizon. The MDR team took it from there, collaborating with the PICC team along the way.

“The new name was inspired by the heart of what PICC does: joining forces to provide a thriving workforce and safe environment for the communities where we live and work,” said Stephen Rybak, Principal and Chief Creative Officer of MDR. “For the name, we knew the region had to be front and center, and for the logo—we needed to represent the commitment and care the association’s team members and partners bring to the table every day.”

In addition to the new name, the updated logo combines elements of the natural ecosystem—like sun, water and wind—representing key focal points of the association: economic vitality, environmental stewardship, water quality, air quality and emergency management and safety.

Community members can expect the same high level of dedication to the region that they’ve known for decades.

“Our commitment to being a key player in the success of the Coastal Bend will never waiver,” Paulison said. “With a new name and a new look, we’re hoping we’ll be able to build even stronger connections and opportunities moving forward.”

You can expect to see updates as soon as April 9th, with brand rollout activities continuing throughout the summer.
