(CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas) – The Port Industries of Corpus Christi (PICC), an alliance of 16-member companies operating in the Coastal Bend, is proud to announce that it will be supporting GROW Local South Texas with a gift of $100,000 to aid the organization in continuing to develop and provide the area with fresh, locally sourced food. The donation will be paid out over a three year period.
“We’ve watched the work GROW Local STX is doing and wanted to provide the organization with additional support so that it can continue to provide the many valuable services and learning opportunities that it does for our community,” said Bob Paulison, executive director of Port Industries.
“This gift allows GROW Local STX to concentrate on the programs required to GROW the local food system and shore up its operational budget. It’s a fantastic example of corporate responsibility and commitment to creating a healthier place for everyone in South Texas,” said Aislynn Campbell, executive director for GROW Local STX. “Thank you Port Industries and its member companies for leading the charge to make a strong local food system a reality.”
This is the second time PICC member companies have provided support for GROW Local STX. The alliance, through its Coastal Bend Diabetes Initiative, provided to organization with approximately $51,000 in 2015.
